About the event
WHAT IS ALEX AUTISM ALLIANCE?
Alex Autism Alliance is a free, community-based program created to provide participants with opportunities to learn, practice, and strengthen skills based on their individual abilities, interests, and goals.
This program is designed for individuals who have aged out of school-based services or who have had difficulty getting into a program.
Through our partnership with Houston Community College (HCC), participants will engage with HCC Occupational Therapy students as part of their learning and skill-development experience.
SKILLS & ACTIVITIES MAY INCLUDE:
Independent living & daily-life skills
Social & communication skills
Community participation
Functional & vocational skill development
Problem-solving & decision-making
Hands-on activities
Self-advocacy & independence
Activities designed around each participant's individual abilities and needs
Our goal is to help each participant build upon what they are capable of doing, while encouraging independence, confidence, social engagement, and continued growth.
